Dry Potato Curry

Happy Curry Week All! Today it is Dry Potato Curry a great accompaniment to Lemon Rice. 


  1. Boiled Potatoes 4 medium sized (boil it as soft as jacket potatoes)
  2. Two tablespoons oil
  3. Chilli Powder 1 Tsp
  4. Turmeric – ½ tap
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Mustard Seed – 1/2 Tsp
  7. Urid Dal – 1tsp
  8. Salt to taste


  1. Peel and dice the potatoes into ¾ inch cubes.
  2. Heat a frying pan with one tablespoon of oil. Add the mustard seeds and urad dal and wait until the mustard splits
  3. Add the potatoes and mix well.
  4. Add the chilli powder, turmeric and salt according to taste.
  5. Add another tablespoon of oil and fry the potatoes on low to medium heat for another ten minutes turning around the potatoes with a spatula every two minutes.
  6. Switch off and serve hot. It is a good accompaniment with lemon rice, coconut rice or roti.
